How this works

Every original on Olfaria is paired with the clones that come closest to it. Each pairing is checked against at least two independent sources before it goes in, and scored for similarity by us.

Both bottles carry their full notes, accords, longevity and sillage, so you can judge the match with your nose, not just your wallet. The saving is the difference between typical bottle prices.

We write every description ourselves and never copy data from other databases. Prices are a guide and change often; always check the retailer before you buy.

What is a perfume clone?

A clone (or dupe) is an independent fragrance created to smell like a well-known designer or niche perfume, usually at a fraction of the price. Clones are legal: the formula of a scent isn't protected, though names and bottles are.

How do you score similarity?

Similarity is our editorial estimate of how close a clone smells to its original across the opening, heart and drydown, from 0 to 100. Above 85 most people won't tell them apart in daily wear; between 75 and 85 the idea is clearly the same but the details differ.

Do clones last as long as the originals?

Often they last as long or longer, because many clone houses use strong synthetic base materials. What usually differs is refinement: the opening can be sharper and the drydown simpler. We rate longevity for every perfume so you can compare.

How is the saving calculated?

It's the difference between the original's typical bottle price and the clone's, using the bottle sizes shown. Bottle sizes vary, so check the price per ml on each perfume's page for a like-for-like comparison.

Do you earn money from the Buy links?

Some links are affiliate links, so we may earn a small commission when you buy, at no extra cost to you. It never influences similarity scores or ratings.
