About
By its own account, Creed began in 1760 as a tailoring business on Conduit Street in London, founded by James Henry Creed, and later moved into perfumery. Independent historians note that documentary evidence of the company before about 1970 has not surfaced, so the early chronology rests on the house's own telling. The modern brand was built under Olivier Creed and his son Erwin, with ingredients weighed and aged near Fontainebleau. Ownership has changed quickly: BlackRock took a majority stake in 2020, Kering bought the house in 2023, and L'Oréal completed its purchase of Kering Beauté, including Creed, in March 2026.
