About
Valentino Garavani opened his house in Rome in 1960 and built it into one of Italy's leading couture names. The company is controlled by the Qatari investment firm Mayhoola, which sold a 30 percent stake to Kering in 2023. Its creative base remains in Rome, while the registered office is in Milan. Fragrance licences have changed hands: Puig held the rights from 2010 to 2018, after which L'Oréal took over and rebuilt the beauty business around make-up and the Born in Roma perfumes, whose studded bottles echo the house's Rockstud accessories.
