About
Thierry Mugler, a Strasbourg-born designer, launched his label in Paris in the early 1970s, with most sources giving 1973, and became known for dramatic silhouettes and spectacular shows. In 1990 Clarins took a stake to develop his fragrances, and Angel followed in 1992, a praline and patchouli scent widely regarded as the first modern gourmand. A*Men arrived in 1996 and Alien in 2005. Clarins later closed the clothing line but kept perfume. L'Oréal agreed to buy Mugler from Clarins in 2019 and completed the deal in 2020. Thierry Mugler died in 2022.
