About
Giorgio Armani and his partner Sergio Galeotti founded the company in Milan in 1975, and it became known for soft, unstructured tailoring in muted tones. In 1980 Armani signed a licence with L'Oréal covering fragrance and cosmetics, an arrangement since renewed to run until 2050. The partnership produced long-running scents such as Acqua di Giò and Armani Code, followed later by Sì and My Way. Armani kept the company independent throughout his life, and after his death in 2025 control passed to the foundation he had created to oversee its future.
